Endpapers are at the beginning and end of a book. They are a double-sized sheet folded in the middle, with one half fixed to the inside of the front and back covers, and the other half serving as the first page. These days they are usually unprinted and white - a cost saving exercise, but they can be printed with any image or text and are available in a wide range of materials, from marbled to textured to printed. They serve to add a touch of refinement, elegance and consideration in the finishing of any book.
